At the heart of these 17 acres is an impressive outdoor amphitheater just off the banks of Buck Creek, home of the annual Springfield Summer Arts Festival operated by the Springfield Arts Council.

Get up close and personal by bouldering along the cliff on the north side of the park, or take a splash in the white water play area. Kids love meeting Cinderella and riding in her pumpkin carriage on the playground, and young and old alike find something to love along the Buck Creek Scenic Trail. Veterans Memorial Park serves as a place to honor and remember the sacrifices made by our service men and women in defense of our freedom throughout America’s history. Veterans Memorial Park is located along Buck Creek at the corner of Fountain Avenue and Cliff Park Road in downtown Springfield. The park redevelopment plan features monuments telling the stories of local veterans through images. These images will be selected by a committee of local veterans.

Four sections of the park will focus on each century through America’s history and the major conflicts during those periods. Artistic hedgehog structures will symbolize and connect each era of conflicts as a reminder of the devastation and destruction of war. The renovation will include new sidewalks, walkways, monuments, plaza area, flowers, benches, electrical work including LED lamps, drainage and other items. The master plan was prepared by CYP Landscape Design Studios and is estimated to cost $400,000. Please consider a donation to create a lasting tribute to our heroes at Veterans Memorial Park.

Your donation will honor local members of the armed services who served our country. Veterans Memorial Park will be a living legacy to Clark County veterans, past, present and future. All donations made to this cause are tax-deductible and can be made payable to the Springfield Foundation with Veterans Park written in the memo line or in correspondence accompanying the gift. Checks can be sent to the National Trail Parks And Recreation District, 1301 Mitchell Blvd., Springfield, OH 45503. Personalized brick pavers are also being sold; forms are available at the National Trail Administration Building or by clicking here.

Visitors have convenience paired with outdoor amenities at the Veterans Park playground which includes picnic tables and restrooms. Don’t forget to say hello to Cinderella who is accompanied by her horse and carriage,  making Veterans Parks the perfect place to spend a day in the sun.

The Springfield Bouldering Park is a limestone oasis set in the shadow of scenic Wittenberg University in downtown Springfield. Bouldering is the fastest growing segment of the rock climbing industry. No need to purchase expensive ropes or equipment, just shoes and “crash” pad are all you need to jump on the rock and get bouldering.

The Bouldering Park (located in Springfield’s Veteran’s Park) features easy access, plentiful parking and restroom facilities. Come try bouldering for the first time, or push the limits of the sport with the wide variety of problems yet to be discovered.
