Schools & Scouts

Looking for a fun and engaging learning experience for your classroom, Scout group or other community group? From classroom programs to night hikes and park tours to wildlife programs, National Trail offers outreach programs covering a variety of natural and outdoor education topics. Most are free and a great way to introduce your group to our community’s resources.

If you are a teacher we will work with you to develop a program that meets State of Ohio Academic Content Standards as well as your needs and expectations. For Scout leaders, we offer programs that can help your scouts achieve specific badge requirements. We conduct programs either at your site (school building, land lab, or other meeting facility) or at one of the parks managed by National Trail Parks and Recreation District.

Teachers, do you want to bring your lessons to life? Perhaps you wish your students would work better together and develop more leadership skills. Then book a program with National Trail. National Trail staff can ignite a passion for natural science, history and challenge your students to take on leadership roles. We invite you to bring your class to the park, but if you cannot make it to us, we can bring a program to your classroom. We can also tailor programs to your needs. Programs are subject to availability. Email for more information.

Scout leaders, there is no better place for your group to earn their badges than the parks! National Trail offers opportunities to work through the requirements for your different nature and animal-related badges with an experienced member of our staff. Sign your group up for an existing program that meets requirements for certain badges or set up a private program for your group. Programs are subject to availability. Email for more information.

Looking for possible Eagle Scout projects?  National Trail is happy to assist with the development of appropriate projects. Email for more information.
