Pepsi and N.F.L.  Punt, Pass, and Kick     September 13 10:00am   at Davey Moore Park

Punt, Pass, & KickSponsored nationally by Pepsi and the National Football League, this football skill competition is for boys and girls ages 8 - 15.   

 

No pre-registration is necessary but a parents signature on an entry form and a copy of birth certificate are required.

Santa Calling        

Santa ClausThis service is a joint project of the National Trail Parks Parks and Recreation District and the Recreation and Buck Creek State Park employees. "Santa Calling" gives Clark County children the opportunity to talk directly with "Santa." Santa will call children December 11 and 12.   All children in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades receive a sealed envelope containing a "Santa Calling" registration. You can also obtain a form from our administrative office.     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Spring

Junior Olympics     2009 Schedule TBA

A Junior Olympics competition Basketball and Track & Field, sponsored nationally by Kellogg's, will be held on April 28 at the Lagonda Fields Park at 10:00am. The program is free for boys and girls ages 8-13, as of September 1, 2007.  Participants may pick in either or both competitions and may only wear gym shoes. The objective of the basketball portion is to score as many points as possible by making baskets from designated shooting areas. The objective of track and field (must compete in all three) is in three skill events: the Sprint (50-meter dash), Long Jump (standing broad jump), and the Shot Put (softball put). Ribbons will be given to winners who qualify for regional competitions later.

 

 

Aquafina/MLB  Pitch, Hit, & Run

Clark County Local Competition       2009 Schedule TBA

The Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit, Run Program is a skill development competition conducted in cooperation with  Major League Baseball, Youth 7 - 14 (by December 31,2008)  years of age may compete.  The competition will be held at the Carleton Davidson Stadium.  The winners of local finals will move on to sectional competition, and may move on to regional (Cincinnati Reds) Game, and nationally (Major League All Star Game). Players will be tested on hitting from a tee (for distance and accuracy), running the bases (for speed), plus pitching (for accuracy).  This event is FREE.  

NOTE: Please bring a birth certificate or baptismal record and understand that parents or guardians must sign the registration form and metal spikes are not permitted.

TENNIS EXTRAVAGANZA           Tennis    2009 Schedule TBA

A free day of fun tennis activities for persons of all ages at Old Reid Park.  Instruction, competition, prizes, and lunch will highlight the day for tennis players whether experienced or inexperienced.  The event is co-sponsored by the Springfield Tennis Patrons and is free of charge.
