Field/Facility Rentals

Requests are being accepted for the baseball, softball and soccer field rentals on National Trail Parks and Recreation facilities. Persons interested should stop at the NTPRD office to receive a Facility Request Form.

Aberfelda Woods Nature Preserve    Master Plan
This 9 acre wooded lot is undeveloped with no public access, located in the Aberfelda housing development off Shrine Road.

Buck Creek Corridor   Master Plan
A 6.5 mile corridor along Buck Creek from C. J. Brown Dam to Mad River.  It includes areas for bird watching, nature walks, historic reenactments, and fishing.

Daniel Hertzler HouseDaniel Hertzler House
930 South Tecumseh Road

The Daniel Hertzler House was built in 1854-1855, a Pennsylvania Style Bank House and is an interesting study of 19th century architecture, a design for convenience and an example of Midwestern individualism. The house was built as a farm home for a rich Mennonite and the furnishings reflect this theme. The décor  centers on the pre-Civil War period. There are a few pieces from the family and the remainder are antiques of the period.

Open every Sunday afternoon 1:00pm to  3:00pm

(June 1 - October 26)

Cost: Adults are $5.00 and Students are $1.00.

The house is also open by appointment, for more information or to make a tour appointment call 937- 882-6000.

Located on the premise of George Rogers Clark Park.

Eagle City Soccer Complex   Master Plan
500 Eagle City Road. This complex has eight soccer fields. It is the home of NTPRD Youth Soccer.

Estel Wenrick Wetlands      Master Plan

2855 Union Road.  The entrance is on Union Road, ¼ mile south of Lower Valley Pike. It is 167 acres of woods, trails and wet terrain suitable for the study of aquatic life and wildlife.  This natural area is sensitive.  Please stay on the trail.  

 

 

 

Jack Hemry Park         Master Plan

At 400 Elk Avenue. The neighborhood park is a newly developed 6.6 acres with picnic tables and playground equipment. 

 

Layne Addition Park    Master Plan

A one acre park located at the corners of Courtland Avenue and Leland Avenue, with playground equipment.

Mad River Reserve
At 4898 Lower Valley Pike.  A 10 acre nature preserve, open only by permit.  Contact 882-6000 for more information.

Northern Estates Park     Master Plan
Located between Derr and Villa Roads. 10.5 acres of undeveloped nature preserve, which is not currently available to the public.

Perrin Woods     Master Plan
In the area of Parkwood and Southern Avenues. The woods is 17.7 acres of undeveloped nature preserve.

Peckuwe Village Battle Site
At 5638 Lower Valley Pike.  Visit the Davidson Interpretive Center where you can view the 1780 battle site and displays, then visit the Time Travelers Gift Shoppe.  

 

Stadium Annex
At 1425 Mitchell Boulevard next to Carleton Davidson Stadium, lighted baseball field.  Home to Clark State Community College Baseball Team in the spring as well as adult and youth recreation leagues in the summer. The dimensions are 340' down the lines, 347' in the power allies, and 357' to centerfield.

 

Selma Road Park   Master Plan
724 York Street. This is a 14-acre park that includes a picnicking shelter house, ball diamonds, and a playground.  When conditions allow,  the basketball courts are flooded creating an ice rink for skating fun.

 

Sherman Avenue Park     Master Plan
760 Sherman Avenue. The 70 acres includes playground, outdoor basketball court, a football field and picnic shelter house.

Access to the park is limited on Sherman Avenue as the bridge over Buck Creek is being replaced. Park users might consider using the East Northern Avenue entrance/parking area while visiting the park until the bridge construction is complete in late 2008.

 

 

Snider Valley Recreation Complex     Master Plan

This 17-acre complex includes 3 unlit baseball / softball fields.

 

Standpipe Park    Master Plan
32 North Greenmont Avenue. The one acre park includes an accessible playground.

Trails

There are four main trails within the National Trail Park and Recreation District: Buck Creek, Little Miami Scenic, Prairie Grass, and Simon Kenton.   Trails 

Virgil A. Mabra Park   Master Plan
1413 Oakleaf Avenue.  An 80 acre park, formerly known as Rose Street Park, includes picnic shelter house, baseball / softball fields, and outdoor basketball courts.

Wheldon Park
1525 East Street  & Freemont Avenue area.   An 8.3 acre park which includes playground and open space.
